Andrew Rudin, Composer

According to Robert Moog "the first serious, large-scale, original work for Moog Synthesizer" (1966).  Produced in the studios of the University of Pennsylvania.  It was first heard/seen in Philadelphia and that same year became a US representative in the 5th Bienale of the City of Paris.  Presented most recently in Philadelphia 2/21/14 by BOWERBIRD.

A composition for Moog Synthesizer with film accompaniment.  Both created in 1967 following the success of IL GIUOCO the year before.  Recently restored and preserved digitally and seen for the first time in 48 years when presented 2/21/14 in Philadelphia by BOWERBIRD.  The dance seen in the film is Ray Broussard, at that time a member of the Alwin Nikolais Dance Theatre.  The film images loosely relate to the myth of Icarus and Daedalus, the wandering in the maze, the flight toward the sun, the fall into the sea.  paideia (Greek: παιδεία) referred to the rearing and education of the ideal member of the polis
